The "Bleeding Love" singer was 90 minutes into autographing her autobiography, Dreams, at a London bookstore when a man waiting in line lashed out and slapped her in the head.
"Leona was the victim of an unprovoked attack this afternoon at her book signing," the star's rep said in a statement. "The police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought. Leona is understandably shaken and apologizes to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings."
"Police were called at 4:35 this afternoon to the Waterstone's in Piccadilly to reports of an assault against a female," Scotland Yard spokesman Eddie Townsend confirms to E! News. "Police attended and arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He is currently in custody."
He also added that she was taken to the hospital "as a precaution."
Lewis' sophomore album, Echo, is due in mid-November. Hopefully her appearances for that will be a little more rockin' and a little less raucous than this one.
